How can I increase my chances of selection?
Applicants with a valid First Aid qualification or have plans to take this course will be considered as a priority, please see the following link for details of First Aid courses available in your area: St John Ambulance
Where will I live?
The majority of our camps are non residential, although there are some residential options available, please specify your interest on the application form.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 17 years old (apart from our Cardiff camp where you must be 18 years old). Younger enquirers please see our Rookie Leadership Development Programme on the main King's Camps Website
What hours will I work?
Camps are from 8.15am until 5.45pm (8.15am – 5.15pm in Blackburn), which includes extended hours for working parents - staff will need to be available for work from 8am to 6pm to cover the full duration of the camp. It is highly likely you will be offered a shorter shift, for instance 8am until 4.15pm or 9.45am until 6pm.
What will I wear?
We provide a full staff uniform and ID badge, which must be worn whilst on duty and it is yours to keep once you have finished the season. Staff make a contribution towards the cost of their uniform.
How will I be paid?
Directly into your bank account, on a monthly basis.
What is the administration deposit?
We require you to send a cheque to us for £50 along with your acceptance of a job offer. Your deposit cheque is destroyed once you complete your contract. Only if you break the terms and conditions of your contract is the cheque cashed.
How do I apply?
You must complete our online application form. Once this has been received, we will consider this alongside our other applicants to be considered for interview. We will contact you to arrange a face-to face or telephone interview. If you are not contacted for an interview, this means that we do not currently have a vacancy available and you will automatically be placed on our reserve list. If you are placed on our reserve list, please keep us informed of any new qualifications, experience or changes to your availability. If the vacancy you have applied for is not currently available, please contact us to discuss our range of available employment opportunities. Successful candidates must complete and return our employment forms. Your offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references. There is a 10 day time limit for completing and returning the employment forms after which we will re-appoint for your position.
What training will I receive?
Staff must complete our online training programme prior to their employment start-date and attend a half-day training programme the weekend before the start of the camp at the camp venue. On-camp training forms part of your contract and is paid at your hourly rate.
What happens if I can only work for one season (Easter or Summer)?
We give priority to those applicants who can work both the Easter and Summer seasons, however if you are unable to work the full season, please still apply and we will consider your application in line with the places we have available.
